NOT even 24 inches of snow
would make them change their plans, or the bride's determination to
wear a low-topped wedding gown. Michael Roberts and Alison Jelley
were able to enjoy their special day in the village of Llanferres
in St Asaph diocese thanks to a community
effort.
The Rector of St Berre's,
the Revd Adrian Copping, together with Paul and Siobhan Gothorp,
gathered 30 villagers to help shovel snow, while an extra
snow-plough was organised to help clear the road around the church.
The organist arrived in style, after being offered a lift by the
fire brigade.
"At one point," Mr Copping
says, "one of the shovellers pointed towards the sky, and suggested
that, with the amount of snow we had, someone seemed to have it in
for us. I could see where he was coming from, but, as it happened,
I think we were all blessed amid the difficulties with a wonderful
spirit and with a lovely wedding."
