Missing episodes of All Gas and Gaiters

From Pauline Devaney

Sir, - As the Church Times was our main source of inspiration when Edwin Apps and I wrote the comedy series All Gas and Gaiters between 1966 and 1972, it was a delight to see it mentioned so fulsomely (Books, 19 July; Features, 26 July).

It was deeply upsetting for us when, as the result of an over-zealous accountant, the BBC des- troyed nearly all five series, leaving only 11 episodes in existence, an act the Corporation now deeply regrets.

Nevertheless, some of your readers might be interested to know that all the scripts do still exist, having spent the past forty years in a cardboard box in my attic.

Opening it recently, we have been reading them, and are now planning to publish some in book form. So dear old AGAG will, like Lazarus, live again.
