From the dust of the earth: Ronald Blythe (above),
artist, writer, and Church Times columnist, with the
sculpture of his head created by the artist Jon Edgar. Mr Blythe
sat for seven hours, over the course of two mornings, at his home
in Wormingford, Essex. In a column earlier this year, he pondered:
"How is it that the sculptor can not only draw out my face, but my
experience - even something akin to my soul?" Seeing the clay taken
away to be fired, he was left feeling "very Etruscan: both fragile
and lasting" (Word from Wormingford, 28
March)
