Cathedral sanctuary attacked by militia in
CAR
AN ATTACK on St Joseph's RC Cathedral, Bambari City, in the
Central African Republic, on Monday, has left at least 20 people
dead and 22 injured, Christian Solidarity Worldwide reported on
Tuesday. The cathedral was sheltering 12,000 people when its
grounds were invaded by armed Muslim civilians, and members of a
Muslim rebel coalition, CSW reports.
Floating fleet boosted at anniversary ball
A BALL held on the 35th anniversary of the charity Mercy Ships
has raised £130,000. The charity was started by Don and Deyon
Stephens, in 1978, when the first Mercy Ship was bought as a means
of bringing medical care to the world's poorest people. The charity
now runs a fleet that has visited 54 countries, and served more
than 2.42 million people.
Kenyan Christians threatened in beach-resort
leaflets
LEAFLETS threatening Christians with death have been distributed
in Lamu, a beach resort in Kenya, The Times
reported on Wednesday. "We are warning all you Christians, and the
government of Kenya: if you kill our Muslim brothers, we will kill
thousands of people," the leaflets said. It is understood that that
they were produced by al-Shabaab, a militant Islamist group based
in Somalia.
