With All Your Heart: a retreat in preparation for Lent

Saturday 14 February | 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Join us for this online retreat in preparation for Lent with Malcolm Guite, David Ford, Carys Walsh, Julia Golding, and Simon Horobin, and with worship from St Martin-in-the-Fields, led by Richard Carter with the St Martin’s Voices.

Lent is a time for leaving the familiar and entering the wilderness where, free of distractions, we discover more about ourselves and encounter God more deeply. It can be disorienting and our Lent retreat offers a wealth of refreshing wisdom from scripture, and the writings of priest-poet Malcolm Guite, Gerard Manley Hopkins, C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, and their companions, the Inklings.

Our speakers:

Julia Golding is a multi-award-winning novelist for adults, young adults, and children. More than one million of her books have been published in more than 20 languages.

Malcolm Guite is a bestselling poet and singer-songwriter and is greatly in demand as a speaker and performer.

Simon Horobin is Fellow and Tutor in English at Magdalen College, the position C.S. Lewis held at the same college.

Together, the three authors have written Wardrobes and Rings: through Lenten lands with the Inklings

David Ford is Regius Professor of Divinity Emeritus in the University of Cambridge whose most recent book is Meeting God in John – the SPCK Lent book.

Carys Walsh is an Anglican priest and the author of Dappled Beauty: Through Lent with Gerard Manley Hopkins
