The Very Revd Dr Mark Oakley is Dean of Southwark, and Canon Theologian of Wakefield Cathedral. His books include The Splash of Words (Canterbury Press), which won the 2019 Michael Ramsey Prize.
The Bishop of Gloucester seeks to appoint a priest to serve in this diverse and vibrant benefice. The worshipping community, centred on the church of St James, is deeply embedded in the local community.
Our mission is to mirror the hospitality of God in a Benefice of four Parishes bound together in the love of God.
Nestled between Bristol and Bath, the benefice is a mix of suburban and rural with new housing development.
This is an exciting role leading a missionally active civic church in the beautiful market town of Ashbourne alongside supporting the mission and ministry in surrounding smaller villages.
