Newport archdeacon

THE next Archdeacon of Newport and Director of Ministry and Discipleship, in Monmouth diocese, is to be the Revd James Henley, Leader of the East Cardiff Ministry Area since 2022, and a Canon of Newport Cathedral since 2025. He served as a pastoral assistant and pioneer minister in the diocese before being ordained deacon in 2015. He has since served all his ministry in the diocese. He is also the diocesan Continuing Ministerial Development Officer, and a member of the Diocesan Standing Committee, Diocesan Board of Finance, and the Governing Body of the Church in Wales. He will be installed on 8 March.

 

ABBOTT. The Revd Craig Abbott, part-time Vicar of Ellel and Shireshead, to be part-time Vicar of Over Kellet (Blackburn).

BARNES. The Revd Folasade Barnes, NS Assistant Curate of Christ Church, Thames View, now Interim Vicar of St Patrick’s, Barking (Chelmsford).

BIRKS. The Revd Andrew Birks, Vicar of Melbourn and of Meldreth, and Rural Dean of Shingay (Ely), to be Senior Chaplain to the Bishop of Peterborough (Peterborough).

BRUNT. The Revd Philippa Brunt, formerly Vicar of Parkend and Viney Hill, and Hon. Canon of Gloucester Cathedral, to be NS Assistant Curate of the Leadon Vale Benefice (Gloucester).

COOKE. The Revd David Cooke, Team Vicar in the Barnes Team Ministry (Southwark), to be Rector of the Itchen Valley Benefice (Winchester).

CURTIS. The Revd Anne Curtis, Assistant Curate of Radley, Sunningwell and Kennington, to be Priest-in-Charge of the Guitings, Cutsdean, Farmcote, Upper and Lower Slaughter with Eyford and Naunton (Gloucester).

GLADSTONE. The Revd Nicole Gladstone, part-time Chaplain of HM Prison Deerbolt, now also part-time Chaplain of HM Prison Millsike.

GRIFFITHS. The Revd Clare Griffiths, formerly Team Vicar in the Abergavenny Ministry Area (Monmouth), to be Chaplain of Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (Gloucester).

GURNHAM. The Revd Paul Gurnham, Team Vicar in the East Ham Team Ministry (Chelmsford), now Team Rector.

KEELEY. The Revd John Keeley, Assistant Curate in the Wigan Team Ministry (Liverpool), to be Priest-in-Charge of Holy Trinity, North Ormesby, and of St Thomas’s, Middlesbrough (York).

KNIGHT. The Revd Dawn Knight, Priest-in-Charge of Cotmanhay, to be Vicar, remaining Area Dean of South East Derbyshire (Derby).

LOCKEY. The Revd Malcolm Lockey, formerly Vicar of St Paul’s, Coven (Lichfield), to be Priest-in-Charge of St John’s, South Bank, Middlesbrough (York).

LONG. The Revd Kirsty Long, Assistant Curate of the Venta Group and of Poringland, to be Rector of Mattishall and the Tudd Valley Benefice (Norwich).

LUNN. The Revd Lucy Lunn, Vicar of Hornby with Claughton and Whittington with Arkhome and Gressingham, and Dean of Women’s Ministry, to be also Hon. Canon of Blackburn Cathedral (Blackburn).

MUMFORD. The Revd Thomas Mumford, Vicar of St Mary-le-Tower with St Nicholas, Ipswich, and Diocesan Interfaith Adviser (St Edmundsbury & Ipswich), to be Chaplain to the Bishop of Selby (York).

OH. The Revd Taemin Oh, Vicar of St George’s, Enfield, and Chaplain to the Anglican Korean Community, to be also Prebendary of St Paul’s Cathedral (London).

PORTER. The Revd Damian Porter, Vicar of the Ascension, Torrisholme, and Priest-in-Charge of Christ Church, Carnforth, to be also Hon. Canon of Blackburn Cathedral (Blackburn).

SHRISUNDER. The Revd Romita Shrisunder, Bishop’s Director of Ordinands, and Prebendary of Lichfield Cathedral (Lichfield), to be Canon for Community Outreach and Social Justice of Derby Cathedral (Derby).
