Brecon retirement
THE Very Revd Dr Paul Shackerly, Dean of Brecon since 2014, is to retire on 24 May. He will be 70 in August.
During his tenure, he has introduced and developed leadership, governance, finance, and mission through many social-engagement partnerships the cathedral said. It has now raised £3.8million for a restoration project, and works begin next month.
Dr Shackerly was trained at Chichester Theological College, ordained priest in 1994, and served his title in London diocese. He moved to Chelmsford diocese and then Sheffield, where he served as Vice-Dean of Sheffield Cathedral from 2005 to 2009.
