Lichfield archdeacons

THE next Archdeacon of Salop, in Lichfield diocese, is to be the Revd Nicholas Watson, Area Dean of Manchester South and Stretford, since 2021, and Assistant Curate of St John’s, Flixton, in Manchester diocese, since 2021. He trained for ministry at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, and was ordained priest in 1993, serving his title in Durham diocese. He remained in that diocese until 2000, when he became Warden of Readers for Derby diocese, and Priest-in-Charge of All Saints’, Breadsall. Before his current posts, he served in Lichfield diocese, as Team Rector in the Wednesfield Team Ministry, and Rural Dean of Wulfrun. He succeeds the Ven. Paul Thomas.

The Revd Elizabeth Jackson, Associate Archdeacon of Berkshire, in Oxford diocese, since 2020, and an Hon. Canon of Christ Church, Oxford, since 2022, is to be Archdeacon of Walsall. She studied on the East Midlands Ministry Training Course and was ordained priest in 2011, serving her title in parishes in Lincoln. She became Priest-in-Charge of St Francis of Assisi, North Radford, Coventry in 2013, and also served as Area Dean of Coventry North. She succeeds the Ven. Julian Francis, who retired last year (Gazette, 10 May 2024).

 

York move

THE Ven. Samantha Rushton, Archdeacon of York, since 2019, is to be Diocesan Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of Lichfield diocese. She trained for ordination at Trinity College, Bristol, and was ordained priest in 2006. She served in parishes and as Diocesan Adviser for Licensed Ministry and Warden of Readers in Bristol diocese, before becoming Archdeacon of Cleveland, in York diocese, in 2015. She currently serves on both the Remuneration and Conditions of Service and Finance Committees of the Archbishops’ Council.

 

ALLEN. The Revd Hannah Allen, Assistant Curate of Bourton-on-the-Water with Clapton and the Rissingtons (Gloucester), to be Priest-in-Charge.

ARNOLD. The Revd Dr Jonathan Arnold, Executive Director of the Social Justice Network, to be also Professor of Faith, Culture and the Arts of the University of Kent (Canterbury).

BAINES. The Revd John Baines, Vicar of Longnor, Quarnford, Sheen and Warslow with Elkstone, and Rural Dean of Alstonfield, to be also Assistant Curate of Alstonefield, Ilam and Wetton, of Calton, Cauldon, Grindon, Waterfall and Blore Ray with Okeover, and of Butterton Ipstones-with-Berkhamsytch and Onecote-with-Bradnop (Lichfield).

BAKER. The Revd Iain Baker, Vicar of Kidsgrove, to be also Assistant Curate of Talke, in Alsagers Bank, Audley and Talke (Lichfield).

BETTS. The Revd Paul Betts, Assistant Curate of Wigston, to be Rector of Bosworth (Leicester).

COX. The Revd Linda Cox, Rector of Baschurch and Weston Lullingfield with Hordley, and Rural Dean of Ellesmere, to be also Rural Dean of Oswestry (Lichfield).

DALLISTON. The Revd Michelle Dalliston, Interim Vicar of St John the Baptist, Peterborough (Peterborough), to be Vicar.

DOVE. The Revd Stephen Dove, Assistant Curate of Pathfinder Church, Northstowe (Bishop’s Mission Order), to be Team Rector in the 5folds Team Ministry (Ely).

ENGA. The Revd Charis Enga, Vicar of St Andrew’s, Stoke Newington, to be Priest-in-Charge (Rector-designate) of St Mary’s and the Old Parish Church, Stoke Newington (London).

GREENSMITH. The Revd Sharon Greensmith, Master of St John’s Hospital Proprietary Chapel, Lichfield, to be Team Vicar in the Tettenhall Regis Team Ministry (Lichfield).

GRIFFIN. The Revd Patrick Griffin, Priest-in-Charge of Mow Cop, to be Vicar of Alestonefield, Ilam and Wetton (Lichfield).

HELD. The Revd Jane Held, Interim Priest-in-Charge of Butterton, Ipstones-with-Berkhamsytch and Onecote-with-Bradnop, to be also Assistant Curate of Alstonfield, Ilam and Wetton, of Calton, Cauldon, Grindon, Waterfall and Blore Ray with Okeover, and of Longnor, Quarnford, Sheen and Warslow with Elkstone (Lichfield).
