BAINES. — On 9 May, the Revd John Charles Baines: Priest-in-Charge of New Mills (2006-12); Vicar (2012-18); Rural Dean of Glossop (2010-13); Priest-in-Charge of Longnor, Quarnford, Sheen and Warslow with Elkstone (2018); Vicar since 2018; Rural Dean of Alstonfield since 2020; aged 56.

CRANE. — On 10 May, the Revd Ronald Edward Crane: Priest-in-Charge of Washwood Heath (1988-92); Vicar (1992-2001); Wylde Green (2001-11); received into the RC Church in 2011; aged 75.

CRASTON. — On 2 May, the Revd Brenda Hurst Craston: Deaconess of St Paul with Emmanuel Church, Bolton (1980-93); Parish Deacon (1987-93); aged 91.

HANMER. — On 1 May, the Revd Sister Phoebe Margaret Hanmer CSMV: NSM of Brakpan, South Africa (1996-2000); Actonville (2000-03); aged 93.

STANNARD. — On 29 April, the Revd Peter Graville Stannard: Principal of St Nicholas’s Theological College, Ghana (1989-96); Hon. Canon of Koforidua, West Africa, since 1993; Team Rector in the Shelf with St Aidan’s, Buttershaw, Team Ministry (1996-99); Priest-in-Charge of St Thomas’s, Heaton Norris (2000-02); Team Vicar in the Heatons Team Ministry (2002-08); Priest-in-Charge of St Hilda with St Thomas, South Shields (2008-12); St Aidan and St Stephen, South Shields (2008-12); Assistant Curate of Houghton le Spring (2012-13); aged 65.

THOMPSON. — On 13 May, the Rt Revd Geoffrey Hewlett Thompson: Vicar of St Augustine’s, Wisbech (1959-66); St Saviour’s, Folkestone (1966-74); Bishop of Willesden (1979-85); Bishop of Exeter (1985-99); Hon. Assistant Bishop in Carlisle diocese since 1999; aged 95.
