Dean to retire

THE Dean of Ely, the Very Revd Mark Bonney, is to retire at the end of next July after 40 years of ordained ministry. He moved to Ely in 2012 from Salisbury, where he was Canon Treasurer, and guided Ely Cathedral through the pandemic. During his time, the cathedral’s arts and events programme has expanded, and the cathedral received a Gold A Rocha UK award. “His encouragement to invest in technology and support of good financial management have all contributed to ensuring the Cathedral is in a much stronger position under his tenure and in an excellent state of repair,” a statement from the Chapter said.
