Short notice: She needs: Women flourishing in the Church by Nay Dawson

by
08 March 2024

NAY DAWSON, the author of She Needs: Women flourishing in the Church (IVP, £9.99 (£9); 978-1-78974-452-1), founded Passion for Evangelism, and is a trustee of a charity assisting Black British students. The title recurs in the chapter headings: “She needs help failing”, “. . . help speaking”, “. . . brothers”, “. . . you to fix the leaky pipe”. From an Evangelical milieu, and rooted in Romans 12.1-8, the book is a clarion call to use women’s gifts. As well as a lack of confidence, revealed in personal stories, it identifies problems such as a lack of clarity about the theology, “apprenticeships that lead nowhere”, and the “lack of paid roles at appropriate levels”. There are discussion questions and a reading list.
