(BBC4) Box of Delights The first two parts of the 1984 adaptation of John Masefield’s children’s novel, in which schoolboy Kay Harker, on his Christmas holidays, finds himself on a train with two clergymen (1-2/6).

Sunday 10.30am (BBC1) My Life at Christmas with Anita Rani The actor Rudolph Walker describes how he became homeless before his faith helped him to rebuild his life (2/3).

1.25pm (BBC1) Songs of Praise Canon Kate Bottley investigates modern-day angel encounters, and meets the Revd Ravi Holy, who tells his story of turning to faith.


RADIO: Friday 1.30pm
(R4) Heart and Soul Robert Beckford explores the significance of slave names and their emotional impact on individuals and communities (repeat).

9pm (R4) Free Thinking Matthew Sweet chairs a discussion on the psychology of evil (13/15).

Sunday 8.10am (R4) Sunday Worship Cass Meurig and Gwyneth Glyn explore the Welsh Plygain carol tradition, from St Garmon’s, Dyffryn Ceiriog, in the north-east of Wales.

3pm (R3) Choral Evensong A repeat of this week’s service from St Mary-le-Bow, London, sung by St Martin’s Voices. Recorded on 26 November.

Tuesday 3.30pm (R4) Beyond Belief Canon Giles Fraser interviews regular and reserve chaplains from the armed forces (2/7).

Wednesday 3pm (R3) Choral Evensong Live from Royal Holloway, University of London.
