Rochdale appointment

THE new Archdeacon of Rochdale, in Manchester diocese, is the Ven. Karen Smeeton, formerly Area Dean of Rochdale from 2017, Hon. Canon of Manchester Cathedral from 2019, and Assistant Curate of Norden with Ashworth and Bamford from 2021. She also served as Assistant Archdeacon in 2019. Archdeacon Smeeton trained at Ripon College, Cuddesdon, and was ordained priest in 2003. She has served all her ministry in Manchester diocese.

 

Sheffield post

THE Revd Hannah Hupfield, Vicar of High Lane, in Chester diocese, since 2021, and Rural Dean of Chadkirk, since 2023, is to be Associate Archdeacon Transition Enabler for the deaneries of Adwick-le-Street and Snaith and Hatfield, in Sheffield diocese. She trained at Westcott House, Cambridge, and was ordained priest in 2012. She served her title in St Edmundsbury & Ipswich diocese, before moving to Lincoln diocese. She was also Assistant Chaplain of Selwyn College, Cambridge.

 

Blackburn archdeaconries

TWO new assistant archdeacons have been licensed in Blackburn diocese. The Revd Toby Webber, Vicar of Altham with Clayton-le-Moors, since 2015, is now also Assistant Archdeacon of Blackburn. He trained for ordination at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, and was ordained priest in 2003. He has served all his ministry in Blackburn diocese, in parishes and as Bishop’s Domestic Chaplain.

A former Archdeacon of Halifax, in Leeds diocese, the Ven. Dr Anne Dawtry, who has served as Blackburn Diocesan Retired Clergy Officer since 2022, is now also Assistant Archdeacon of Lancaster. She trained at Ripon College, Cuddesdon, and was ordained priest in 1994. She has served in the dioceses of Salisbury, Manchester, Wakefield, Leeds, and Blackburn, in parish ministry, as university chaplain, director of training schemes, and Warden of Readers.

 

Raphoe move

THE Very Revd Elizabeth Fitzgerald, Dean of Raphoe, and Rector of Raphoe with Raymochy and Clonleigh, in Derry & Raphoe diocese, since 2023, is now Rural Dean of Raphoe and Inishwoen. She was ordained priest in 2017 and has served all her ministry in the diocese.

 

BONSALL. The Revd Maureen Bonsall, NS Assistant Curate of Whitton and Thurleston with Akenham (St Edmundsbury & Ipswich), to be NS Associate Priest.
