Sunday 1.15pm (BBC1) Songs of Praise Before National Poetry Day, on the first Thursday of October, Aled Jones explores the art of putting faith into words through the poetry of the Bible.

Tuesday 9pm (BBC2) Living Every Second: The Kris Hallenga story A profile of the cancer campaigner, who held a living funeral with a eulogy from Dawn French as the Vicar of Dibley (News, 30 June 2023).


RADIO: Friday 1.30pm
(World Service) Heart and Soul Emily Withers visits Istanbul, where people of many faiths visit a Greek Orthodox church on the first day of the month to make a wish.

Sunday 8.10am (R4) Sunday Worship A service from Middlefields House residential care home, Chippenham, to celebrate the International Day of Older People, on Tuesday. Read an interview with Stephen Hammersley, the CEO of Pilgrims’ Friend Society, which runs the care home, here

3pm (R3) Choral Evensong A repeat of this week’s service live from Pershore Abbey, sung by the choir of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge.

7.15pm (R4) Lasting Lessons A documentary following five A-level students who volunteer at a hospice for six months, as part of their future plans to work in health care.

Wednesday 3pm (R3) Choral Evensong The BBC Singers are accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra in a service from St Jude’s, Hampstead, in north-west London, to mark their centenary. Recorded on 18 September.
