This intimate portrait is written by Ian Collins, a close friend of Ronald Blythe, who had privileged access to his letters and notes after his death. After a friendship that lasted decades, Collins draws on the many illuminating conversations he shared with this sensitive countryman (Books for Christmas, 29 November).
