Charing Cross post

THE next Archdeacon of Charing Cross, in London diocese, is to be the Revd Katherine Hedderly, Vicar of All Hallows Berkynchirche-by-the-Tower with St Dunstan-in-the-East, and Area Dean of The City since 2019, and Rector of St Mary at Hill with St Andrew Hubbard, St George Botolph Lane and St Botolph by Bilingsgate since 2023. Ms Hedderly has been joint acting Archdeacon with the Revd Clare Dowding since September 2023. She succeeds the Rt Revd Adam Atkinson, now Area Bishop of Bradwell, in Chelmsford diocese (News, 23 June 2023; Gazette, 4 August 2023).


ALEXANDER. The Revd Alison Alexander, Assistant Curate of St Thomas and St Edmund, Salisbury (Salisbury), to be Vicar of Maybush and St Jude’s, Southampton (Winchester).

ALLPRESS. The Revd Rebecca Allpress, Assistant Curate of Swadlincote and Hartshorne, of Newhall, and of Gresley, to be part-time Rector of Brailsford with Shirley, Osmaston with Edlaston and Yeaveley (Derby).

DANKS. The Revd Mark Danks, Vicar of St Bartholomew with St James and St John, Wednesbury (Lichfield), to be Vicar of Blackheath (Birmingham).

DAVEY. The Revd Christopher Davey, Priest-in-Charge of Framlingham with Saxtead, to be Rector, remaining Rural Dean of Loes (St Edmundsbury & Ipswich).

DRAKE. The Revd Dr Nicholas Drake, Assistant Curate (Associate Vicar) of St Luke’s, Birmingham, to be also Assistant Curate (Associate Priest) of Longbridge (Birmingham).

FINCH. The Revd Richard Finch, Priest-in-Charge of Leiston, to be Rector, remaining Rural Dean of Saxmundham (St Edmundsbury & Ipswich).

GOLDSMITH. The Revd Dr Kathryn Goldsmith, Precentor-designate of Wakefield Cathedral (Leeds) to be also Capitular Canon.

HERBERT. The Revd Alison Herbert, Assistant Curate (Associate Vicar) of St Luke’s, Birmingham, and Diocesan Church Planting Leadership Development Enabler, to be also Assistant Curate (Associate Priest) of Longbridge (Birmingham).

MIDDLETON. The Revd Alison Middleton, Assistant Curate (Associate Vicar) of Rotherham, and of Masbrough, to be Pioneer Oversight Minister of Greasbrough, of Rawmarsh with Parkgate, of Kimberworth and Kimberworth Park, and of Thorpe Hesley (Sheffield).

STAPLEFORD. The Revd Robin Stapleford, Rector of the Upper Wensum Village Group, to be also Priest-in-Charge of Barney, Hindringham, Thursford, Great and Little Snoring and Kettlestone and Pensthorpe (Norwich).

TOWNSEND. The Revd Teresa Townsend, Priest-in-Charge of Abbotts Ann and Upper Clatford and Goodworth Clatford (Winchester), to be Rector.

WICKINGS. The Revd Luke Wickings, Team Vicar in the Tolworth, Hook and Surbiton Team Ministry (Southwark), to be Rector of Fordingbridge and Hyde and Breamore and Hale with Woodgreen (Winchester).


MUNN. Meg Munn, formerly Chair of the National Safeguarding Panel, and Acting Chair of the Independent Safeguarding Board, to be Ecumenical Lay Canon of Ripon Cathedral (Ripon).
