Members of the Chapter and staff of St Edmundsbury Cathedral, and representatives of English Heritage and West Suffolk Council, outside the ruins of St Edmund’s Abbey, last week. The National Lottery Heritage Fund has awarded £729,553 to a project, “The Abbey of St Edmund: A Millennium of History in West Suffolk”, a partnership between the cathedral, the council, and English Heritage. The project “aims to conserve and protect the ruins; build a visitor centre, west cloister, and network of footpaths; and use digital technology to provide exciting interpretation for all ages and interests”, a press release said
