7pm (BBC4) The Queen’s Realm In the first of a night of programmes dedicated to Sir John Betjeman, who died on this day in 1984, an aerial view of the country through the seasons, with commentary by the poet (repeat).

Wednesday 10pm (Nat Geographic) Nazi Death Camp: The great escape Jewish former prisoners at a Polish death camp recall their escape in 1943.

ADIO: Friday 1.30pm (World Service) Heart and Soul Colm Flynn visits Le Barroux Abbey, in the south of France, where the Benedictine monks work in their own vineyard.
