HIGHLIGHT: Christmas around Europe A celebration of music in the European Broadcasting Union’s annual Christmas music day.

Sunday 12-10pm, Radio 3

 

TELEVISION: Saturday 7pm (BBC4) Box of Delights After Kay Harker has outwitted Abner Roberts, the series ends with a crowd arriving at Tatchester Cathedral (shot at Tewkesbury Abbey for the exteriors), and then the Christmas service (filmed in Hereford Cathedral) (3-6/6) (repeat).

Sunday 10.30am (BBC1) My Life at Christmas with Anita Rani The former reality TV star Spencer Matthews reflects on what Christmas means to him (3/3).

1.15pm (BBC1) Songs of Praise Aled Jones hosts a celebration of carols from Huddersfield Town Hall.

8pm (Nat Geographic) Lost Treasures of the Bible Civilisations featured in the Bible are uncovered.

 

RADIO: Friday 1.30pm (World Service) Heart and Soul Chine McDonald visits France to find the origin of the Black Madonna (repeat).

Sunday 8.10am (R4) Sunday Worship Carols have been sung in pubs in the villages around Sheffield for more than 100 years. The singers explain how the carols and the rowdy atmosphere of the village pub inspires them.

Monday to Friday 4pm (R3) Composer of the Week: Bach at Christmas Donald Macleod explores the lives of Bach and his family during the Christmas season at five different periods (1-5/5) (repeat).

Tuesday 3.30pm (R4) Beyond Belief Canon Giles Fraser and guests discuss the question: do animals have souls? (3/7).

Wednesday 3pm (R3) Choral Evensong Live from Llandaff Cathedral.
