medieval sacristy was uncovered in the grounds of
Westminster Abbey during building work on the Westminster Abbey Sacristy Project. Monks stored their vestments, altar linens and vessels, and other sacred items here. The site was also used as a burial ground, and is thought to contain the bones of hundreds of buried bodies
