Newcastle interim dean
THE Very Revd Dr Jane Hedges, formerly Dean of Norwich, and Acting Dean of Canterbury, is now Interim Dean of Newcastle. The Very Revd Geoffrey Miller retired on 30 November 2022 (Gazette, 11 November). A new Dean will be appointed this year.
Norwich Cathedral
THE Revd Aidan Platten, Canon Precentor of Norwich Cathedral since 2017, is now also Acting Dean. He was ordained priest in 2004, served his title in St Edmundsbury & Ipswich diocese, before becoming Chaplain to the Bishop of Gloucester in 2006. From 2011, he served as Vicar of St Mark’s, Hamilton Terrace, in London. The Revd Dr Andrew Braddock, currently Interim Dean of Gloucester, takes up the post at the end of the month (News, 9 September 2022).
Chelmsford move
THE Very Revd Nicholas Henshall, Dean of Chelmsford since 2014, is to leave his post in February, to be Vicar of New Groombridge, in Chichester diocese. He was ordained priest in 1989 and served in Newcastle diocese, before becoming Precentor of Derby Cathedral in 2002. He then served as Vicar of Christ Church, High Harrogate, now in Leeds diocese.
Derbyshire archdeacon
THE Ven. Carol Coslett, Archdeacon of Derbyshire Peak and Dales, since the autumn, and Archdeacon of Chesterfield from 2018 to 2022, is to become Assistant Director of Lay Ministry in Southwark diocese. Ven. Coslett was ordained priest in 2004 and served her title in Guildford diocese, before serving in Southwark, 2007-18. It is expected that she will take up post in March.
