HIGHLIGHT: Radio 3 in Concert Simon-Pierre Bestion directs a performance of Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610, in a re-creation of how the work might have been heard at St Mark’s, Venice; recorded at the Utrecht Early Music Festival in August. Monday 7.30pm, Radio 3

 

TELEVISION: Sunday 10.30am (BBC1) Scotland’s Sacred Islands with Ben Fogle The presenter traces the route of sixth-century British monks (2/4).

1.15pm (BBC1) Songs of Praise Claire McCollum explores Edinburgh’s religious buildings and history, and visits some of the chapels and churches linked to John Knox.

10pm (C5) The Burning Girls A thriller about the Revd “Jack” Brooks and her daughter, who look for a new life in Chapel Croft, a village with a dark secret (1/6).

Tuesday 10pm (BBC2) Jailed: Inside Maghaberry Prison Stephen Dolan discovers the mental-health problems faced by some of the prisoners at the Care and Supervision Unit.

 

RADIO: Friday 11.30am (World Service) Heart and Soul Rachel Freier, the first Hasidic Supreme Court Judge in the United States, talks about her faith and legal work.

Sunday 8.10am (R4) Sunday Worship The Bishop of Fulham, the Rt Revd Jonathan Baker, preaches at choral morning prayer for All Saints’, live from St Gabriel’s, Pimlico.

3pm (R3) Choral Evensong A repeat of this week’s service from St Stephen Walbrook, in the City of London, sung by the Choral Scholars, recorded on 28 June.

Wednesday 4pm (R3) Choral Evensong Live from Portsmouth Cathedral on All Saints’ Day.
