by
24 March 2023

CANON Arthur Howells, a retired priest in Wales, has compiled an attractive hardback, An Easter Anthology: Scripture readings and prayers for Holy Week and Easter (Hodder & Stoughton, £16.99 (£15.30); 978-1-399-80714-2). For each day until Pentecost, a scripture passage is printed in full, and then an extract from one of a wide range of well-known authors. Among them are C. S. Lewis, John V. Taylor, Fr Andrew SDC, Michael Mayne, and Henri Nouwen, as well as Paula Gooder, Maggi Dawn, Fr Timothy Radcliffe SJ, and Sister Margaret Magdalen CSMV. The foreword is by Rowan Williams.
