A NEW exhibition of photos by Jim Grover, “Windrush: A Voyage through the Generations”, opens on Friday at Clapham Library in the Mary Seacole Centre, 91 Clapham High Street, London SW4, and runs until 2 September.
The exhibition explores how the children and grandchildren of immigrants who arrived from the Caribbean on the MV Empire Windrush in the 1950s and 1960s are living in the UK today, and invites conversations about how traditions and heritage are passed down through the generations. The exhibition follows on from Grover’s earlier collection, “Windrush: Portrait of a Generation” (News, 25 May 2018).
Uniquely, this work explores and invites conversations around the different ways of passing down traditions, the continuity of heritage, and intergenerational exchange.
A book to accompany the exhibition is available in both a printed edition (£25) and a downloadable PDF edition (£10) at the exhibition website: www.windrushvoyagethroughthegenerations.com
