AUDREY ELLEDGE and Elizabeth Moore, New Yorkers, have written a hardback, Liturgies for Hope: Sixty prayers for the highs, the lows, and everything in between (Form, £14.99 (£13.50); 978-0-281-08765-5), commended by Jon Tyson (NY) and Pete Hughes (of King’s Cross Church, London). The longish prayers (cf. Gilbert Shaw’s A Pilgrim’s Book of Prayers) may be dubbed “Liturgies” because the words are set. They are for all sorts, conditions, circumstances: e.g. “for Those Who Worship the Wrong Thing”, “for Gardening”, “for Waves of Grief”, “for Those Consumed by Media”.
