NEW books on prayer include Love Answering Love: Praying through the Bible by Neil G. Richardson (Sacristy Press, £12.99 (£11.70); 978-1-78959-279-5). The author, a Methodist minister, has worked ecumenically. The 11 chapters fall into sections, with a conclusion, a prayer, and reflection and discussion questions. “Pray as you can” sets the tone of the advice; and the author devotes chapters to subjects such as Jesus and his Prayer; the Great Thanksgiving; and praying with the Psalms.

Forty Days with Labyrinths: Spiritual reflections with labyrinths to “walk”, colour or decorate by Fay Rowland takes a more visual approach, with fewer words and a larger typeface. Each labyrinth drawing comes with a short Bible passage, a reflection, a prayer, and suggestions for “exploring further” and “walking” (literally, or on paper) (DLT, £12.99 (£11.70); 9781-915412-10-2). Themes include, for example, “Who is Jesus?” and “Free Gift”.
