Chris Oldham

The lay clerks and choral scholars of Christchurch Cathedral, New Zealand, sang an unaccompanied evensong last month, the first choral service in the cathedral since the earthquake that caused extensive damage in February 2011 (News, 4 March 2011). Held in the nave, the service was live-streamed to the Cathedral Square. Work on the building, designed by George Gilbert Scott, and consecrated in 1881, is scheduled for completion by Christmas 2027
