Croydon archdeacon

THE next Archdeacon of Croydon is to be the Revd Gregory Prior, Vicar of All Saints with Holy Trinity, Wandsworth, in Southwark diocese, since 2006. He succeeds the Ven. Dr Rosemarie Mallett, who is to be the next Area Bishop of Croydon.

Mr Prior was born in South Africa and ordained deacon in 1996, serving in the Church of England in South Africa for several years. In 2001, he became Minister for Missions and Evangelism of St James’s, Muswell Hill, in London diocese, before moving to his current parish in 2004 to serve as Priest-in-Charge. He was Area Dean of Wandsworth from 2013 to 2018, and Acting Archdeacon of Wandsworth this year, while the Ven. John Kiddle was on sabbatical. He is also Chaplain of the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability.

He is married to Judith, with whom he has three children. He supports Chelsea F.C., enjoys watching rugby, plays the guitar and saxophone, and sings. He also has a keen interest in interior design and architecture.
