Sodor & Man archdeacon

THE next Archdeacon of Man is to be the Revd Irene Cowell, Vicar of Arbory and Castletown, in Sodor & Man diocese, since 2017, and Diocesan Director of Continuing Ministerial Development since 2017. She will also become Priest-in-Charge of St George and All Saints’, Douglas. Mrs Cowell was ordained priest in 1995 and served in Liverpool diocese, in parishes, and in diocesan posts, until her current appointments. Before ordination, she was a nurse and managed an acute surgical ward for 12 years.

She succeeds the Ven. Andrew Brown, who retired on 18 September (Gazette, 11 June). The Very Revd Nigel Godfrey, Dean of St German’s Cathedral, Peel, has been Acting Archdeacon.

 

Church of Ireland posts

THE new Archdeacon of Elphin, in Kilmore, Elphin & Ardagh diocese, is the Ven. Patrick Bamber, Rector of Calry since 2009, and a Canon of Elphin Cathedral since 2012. Archdeacon Bamber was ordained priest in 2003 and served his title in Truro diocese.

The Revd Hazel Hicks, Rector of Arvagh since 2011, and Canon of St Fethlimidh’s Cathedral, Kilmore, since 2016, is the new Archdeacon of Ardagh in Kilmore, Elphin & Ardagh diocese. Archdeacon Hicks was ordained priest in 2009 and has served all her ministry in the diocese.

The Ven. Terence Mitchell, Archdeacon of Killaloe since 2021, and Rector of the Cloughjordan and Borrisokane Group since 2016, in Limerick, Killaloe & Ardfet diocese, is to be Diocesan Further Education and Training Officer, and Priest-in-Charge of the Kilmoe Union of Parishes in Cork, Cloyne & Ross diocese.

 

AINSLIE. The Revd John Ainslie, NS Assistant Curate (Associate Minister) of the Burchetts Green Benefice, now NS Assistant Curate (Associate Minister) of Boyne Hill (Oxford).

ANOZIE. The Revd Julius Anozie, Assistant Curate of St Mary the Virgin, Ilkeston, and of St John the Evangelist, Ilkeston, to be Assistant Curate of Kirk Hallam (Derby).

BEESLEY. The Revd Daniel Beesley, Priest-in-Charge of Bierton and Hulcott, now Rector of Chalfont St Giles, Seer Green and Jordans (Oxford).

BRAVINER. The Ven. William Braviner, Archdeacon of Halifax, to be also Hon. Canon of Bradford Cathedral (Leeds).

BUSFIELD. The Revd Lynn Busfield, Chaplain of the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, now Spiritual Care Coordinator of John Taylor Hospice and of St Mary’s Hospice, Birmingham (Birmingham).

CADY. The Revd Susan Cady, formerly Assistant Curate of St Agnes with St Paul and St Barnabas, Reading (Oxford), now Chaplain of Lee Abbey International Students’ Club, Kensington.

DADE. The Revd Jonathan Dade, Assistant Curate in the High Wycombe Team Ministry (Oxford), now Team Vicar.

DAVIDSON. The Revd Lynn Davidson, Rector of Christ Church, Morningside (Edinburgh), to be Priest-in-Charge of Maughold and South Ramsey and of Bride, Lezayre and North Ramsey, and Team Leader of the Northern Mission Partnership (Sodor & Man).

EPHRAIM. The Revd Harrison Ephraim, Chaplain of Holy Trinity, Dubai (Cyprus & the Gulf, Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East), to be Chaplain of Holy Trinity, Eindhoven, the Netherlands (Europe).
