The Archbishop of York with his wife, Rebecca, and their dog, Molly, at Holy Island, off the coast of Northumbria. Archbishop Cottrell completed a pilgrimage walking St Cuthbert’s Way, setting off from Melrose on Monday of last week and arriving at Holy Island on Saturday. The pilgrimage ended with a celebration of the eucharist in St Mary’s Parish Church, which stands on the site of the original monastery founded by Aidan. The Archbishop said: “We all know that life is a journey. Faith can teach us that this journey can be a holy pilgrimage where we can encounter God and which leads ultimately to eternal life with him”
