A NEW post to assist the Archbishop of Canterbury in matters related to the Anglican Communion has been created, and a former Foreign Office official has been appointed to it.
The Revd Dylan Turner, currently a Growth Enabler in the diocese of Rochester, will take up the new post of Anglican Communion Relations Officer. He will liaise with the Anglican Communion office and mission agencies, and brief the Archbishop on Communion issues.
He will work with the successor of Bishop Anthony Poggo, who was announced this week to be moving on the from the position of the Archbishop’s Adviser on Anglican Communion Affairs to be the Secretary-General of the Anglican Communion Office.
Before his ordination, Fr Turner worked with the Foreign Office, training staff in diplomatic missions around the world.
Bishop Poggo said that he looked forward to “utilising Dylan’s wide experience in supporting the ministry of the Archbishop of Canterbury as a focus of unity in the Anglican Communion as well as being part of the Faith and Public Life team as it supports the Archbishops and Church of England”.
