Comfort in Uncertain Times by Rachel Turner

by
12 August 2022

RACHEL TURNER’s Comfort in Uncertain Times: Helping children draw close to God through biblical stories of anxiety, loss and transition (BRF, £8.99 (£8.10); 978-0-85746-628-0) retells 15 stories from the Old and New Testaments, for reading aloud at home, each followed by conversation starters and suggestions for “ways to connect with God”. Each story has “one key truth to explore together”. Parents are assured that it is acceptable to have these troubling feelings as adults, too. The book begins with God’s having created a changing world; and “key truths” include “God weaves all things together for good,” “God gives us his peace when we give him our worry,” and “God gives us purpose and jobs even in uncertainty.” The author is the pioneer of the Parenting for Faith network.
