Newcastle retirement

THE Very Revd Geoffrey Miller, Dean of Newcastle since 2018, is to retire on 30 November. He recently oversaw a refurbishment of the cathedral, which included a new interpretation scheme, improved disabled access, and a landscaped outdoor terrace.

Dean Miller was ordained priest in 1984 and served his title in Durham diocese. He stayed in Durham until 1999 as an incumbent, Community Chaplain, Diocesan Social Responsibility Officer, and Urban Development Officer. He was a Canon Residentiary of Newcastle Cathedral, also serving as Newcastle Diocesan Urban Officer, before becoming Archdeacon of Northumberland in 2005.

ARCHER. The Revd Dr Michael Archer, Priest-in-Charge of St Denys’s, Portswood, remaining Priest-in-Charge of Christ Church, Portswood (Winchester).

BRADY. The Revd Lynda Brady, Assistant Curate (Associate Minister) of the Six Fen Churches (Ely): 30 November.

CRAWFORD. The Revd Kenneth Crawford, Priest-in-Charge of St John the Baptist, Newcastle Upon Tyne (Newcastle).

GRAY. The Revd Ann Gray, Priest-in-Charge of Kingston Park: 30 November, remaining Chaplain of Newcastle University (Newcastle).

HEWETT. The Revd Ruth Hewett, house-for-duty Assistant Curate (Associate Priest) in the Christ the King Team Ministry, Newcastle-upon-Tyne (Newcastle).

HITCH. The Revd Kim Hitch, Rector of St James’s, Kidbrooke (Southwark): 30 November.

McMULLON. The Revd Brian McMullon, Chaplain of St George’s Memorial Church, Ypres, Belgium (Europe): 30 November.

MITCHELL. The Revd Rachel Mitchell, Rector of the Wiverton in the Vale Benefice (Southwell & Nottingham): 30 November.

MURGATROYD-SHIPP. The Revd Dr Elizabeth Murgatroyd-Shipp, Priest-in-Charge of Melbourn and of Meldreth (Ely).

RACE. The Revd Stephen Race, Area Dean of Barnsley, remaining Rector of the Central Barnsley Benefice, and Hon. Canon of Wakefield Cathedral (Leeds).

SCOTT. The Revd Francis Scott, Vicar of Swanland (York): 20 November.

TAYLOR. The Revd Matthew Taylor, Area Dean of Coventry South, remaining Vicar of Finham (Coventry).

THOMPSON. The Revd Rachel Thompson, Minister in Secular Employment in the Oakham Team Ministry (Peterborough).

WHITTAKER. The Revd Diane Whittaker, Rector of the Astwell Group (Peterborough): 30 November.
