Carlisle retirement

THE Dean of Carlisle, the Very Revd Mark Boyling, is to retire at the end of September, after 18 years in post. He will be 70 in October. During this time, he has overseen the development of the Fratry project, an education, events, and hospitality space in the cathedral precinct. He has also led the cathedral’s 900th-anniversary celebrations this year.

Dean Boyling was ordained priest in 1978 and served his title and two incumbencies in Liverpool diocese. He also served as Chaplain to the Bishop of Liverpool from 1985 to 1989. He was the Precentor of Liverpool Cathedral before taking up his current post in 2004.
