Barking retirement

THE Area Bishop of Barking, in Chelmsford diocese, the Rt Revd Peter Hill, is to retire on 4 August. He had originally intended to retire last year, but stayed in post and became acting diocesan bishop during the vacancy. Bishop Hill was ordained priest in 1984 and served all his ministry in Southwell & Nottingham diocese, latterly as Archdeacon of Nottingham, before his consecration in 2014. His retirement service took place in Chelmsford Cathedral on Sunday 4 July. He and his wife, Ellen, are retiring to Newark, near their children and grandchildren.
