Len AbramsLen AbramsIn Gloucester Cathedral, in the south-ambulatory Chapel of St Thomas (above), Thomas Denny’s modern stained glass depicts Thomas in the presence of the risen Christ, while the windows either side are based on Psalm 148. This is one of the photos by Len Abrams in his book Cathedrals of Light and Life: Images of inspiration and heritage from the 42 Anglican cathedrals of England (978-1-9163851-0-8), available from Southwark Cathedral Bookshop or seasonimages.com, £24.90 plus p&p. All proceeds will support health and education projects of the diocese of Central Zimbabwe through Southwark diocese.

Len Abrams is the Priest-in-Charge of Christ Church, South Nutfield, in Southwark diocese, and a civil engineer and has worked all his life in water development in Africa. He was born in Kenya. His many colour photos of English cathedrals often focus on interior details or unusual angles, such as this one of St Paul’s (right).

The book includes introductory pieces by the Bishops of Worcester and Southwark, and a message from the Bishop of Central Zimbabwe, acknowledging the link with Southwark diocese
