Anticipating White Ribbon Sunday on 21 November, eucharists were celebrated last Sunday in Hexham Abbey (above) and Durham Cathedral, during which victims of domestic homicide were remembered and victims of domestic abuse were honoured. Further services will be held in St Andrew’s, Newcastle, and Sunderland Minster, on the 21st.

A life-size knitted soldier at the War Memorial Clock Tower in Syston, Leicestershire (below), was created by an anonymous knitter known only as Knitting Banksy, on Tuesday, two days before Armistice Day.

Artwork (below) has been displayed outside Coventry Cathedral which relates to Nitin Sawhney’s Ghosts in the Ruins, a new musical commission to mark the 60th anniversary of the cathedral’s consecration. The work’s first three performances will be on 27, 28, and 29 January next year.

It will explore contemporary ideas of peace and reconciliation, and is intended to reflect Coventry’s history as a city of sanctuary. Alongside the music will be heard a series of specially commissioned poems by Coventry poets; and images by Mark Murphy will be projected on to the cathedral interior. Coventry is the UK City of Culture 2021.
