TELEVISION: Sunday 1.15pm (BBC1) Songs of Praise: Gospel Singer of the Year To mark the beginning of Lent, Sean Fletcher visits Ripon Cathedral, and hears from the Dean, the Very Revd John Dobson, on the ways in which the cathedral has inspired others through the centuries. Fletcher also reflects on the themes of love and Lent with the Bishop of Ripon, Dr Helen-Ann Hartley.

Monday to Friday 1.45pm (R4) Life Chances The journalist Athar Ahmad revisits his old school, Acton High, in west London, and explores issues of multiculturalism and identity (1-5/5).
