Doncaster retirement

THE Rt Revd Peter Burrows, Suffragan Bishop of Doncaster, in Sheffield diocese, since 2012 is to retire on 30 September. He was Acting Bishop of Sheffield during the vacancy after Dr Steven Croft’s translation to Oxford, in 2016.

Bishop Burrows was ordained priest in 1984, and served in Bradford and Leicester dioceses before his appointment as Archdeacon of Leeds from 2005 to 2012.

Before ordination, he was a nursing assistant at Derbyshire Royal Infirmary and then a clerical officer at the Department of Health and Social Security.


CATTERALL. The Revd David Catterall, Rector of Templemichael with Clongish, Clooncumber, Killashee and Ballymacormack, and Prebendary of St Mary’s and St John’s Cathedral, Elphin (Kilmore, Elphin and Ardagh).

CREASEY. The Revd Alison Creasey, NS Assistant Curate (Associate Vicar) of Dore, remaining NS Assistant Curate (Associate Vicar) of Totley (Sheffield).

DOWLING. The Revd Graham Dowling, NS House-for-Duty Assistant Curate (Associate Priest) in the Witham and Villages Team Ministry, Colchester Episcopal Area Rural Adviser and Ordination Adviser: 3 November, remaining part-time Chaplain of the Diocesan House of Retreat, Pleshey (Chelmsford).

FLOOD. The Revd Jean Flood, Team Vicar in the Walton-on-the-Hill Team Ministry (Liverpool): 3 October.

HOBSON. The Revd Barry Hobson, Vicar of St Andrew with St George, St Matthew and St John, Hornchurch (Chelmsford): 30 September.

JACKSON. The Revd William Jackson, Vicar of Burnham (Oxford).

JAMIESON. The Revd Susan Jamieson, OLM of Clubmoor (Liverpool).

MACDONALD. The Revd Susan Macdonald, Rector of Christ Church, Edinburgh, and Hon. Canon of St Mary’s Cathedral, Edinburgh (Edinburgh).

PRIOR. The Revd Stephen Prior, Rural Dean of Higham, remaining Rector of Rushden with Newton Bromswold, and Hon. Canon of Peterborough Cathedral (Peterborough).

SCHAFER. The Revd Isabella Schafer, NS Assistant Curate of St Thomas’s, Ashton-in-Makerfield (Liverpool).

THORNTON. The Revd Captain Darren Thornton CA, Rural Dean of Norwich East: 12 February 2020, remaining Rector of St Giles’s, Norwich, Chaplain to the University of East Anglia, Hon. Canon of Norwich Cathedral (Norwich), and Church Army Convener.

THORP. The Revd Stephen Thorp, Reader Sub-Warden for Lynn West, remaining Rector of Necton, Holme Hale with North and South Pickenham, and Rural Dean of Breckland (Norwich).

TOMLINSON. The Revd David Tomlinson, Team Rector in the Saffron Walden and Villages Team Ministry, Area Dean of Saffron Walden, Leader of the Saffron Walden Deanery Mission and Ministry Unit, and Hon. Canon of Chelmsford Cathedral (Chelmsford): 4 January 2020.
