Archdeacon of Barking

THE next Archdeacon of Barking, in Chelmsford diocese, is to be Canon Christopher Burke, Vice-Dean and Canon Precentor of Sheffield Cathedral. He has served at Sheffield Cathedral since 2010 first as Canon Residentiary. He came to Sheffield diocese from London, where he was Rector of Stepney from 2002. He was ordained in 1992 and served his title in York diocese. He and his wife, Helen, who is a GP, have two daughters. He succeeds the Ven. Dr John Perumbalath, who is now the Area Bishop of Bradwell.

Archdeacon in Cyprus

THE next Archdeacon in Cyprus, and Chaplain of St Helena’s, Larnaca, is to be the Ven. Christopher Futcher, Archdeacon of Exeter and Warden of Readers since 2012. In this post, the Ven. Futcher has been responsible for developing links with the diocese in Cyprus & the Gulf and the diocese of Thika, in Kenya. Before this, he served in St Albans diocese after his ordination in 1982.

His wife, the Revd Anne Futcher, will be licensed as an Assistant Curate (Assistant Priest) of St Helena’s, and serve as Cyprus Archdeaconry Social Concern Co-ordinator.

Archdeacon of Gibraltar

THE Ven. Geoffrey Stanley Johnston, Acting Archdeacon of Gibraltar, is now also Acting Archdeacon in Italy and Malta, after the retirement of the Ven. Vickie Sims.

Archdeacon Johnston has served in the Diocese in Europe since 2008, when he became Priest-in-Charge in Nerja and Almuñécar, Spain. He was ordained in 1968 and has served in Lichfield, Truro, and Worcester dioceses.

Previously, Archdeacon Sims was Chaplain of All Saints’, Milan, with Lake Como and Genoa, from 2014 to 2016, having served previously in Southwark diocese.

BAILEY. The Revd Faye Bailey, Assistant Curate of the Ascension with All Saints, Chelmsford, to be Team Rector in the Becontree South Team Ministry, remaining Chaplain of Chelmsford Squadron (Chelmsford).

BRABY. The Revd Rosemary Braby, NS Assistant Curate (Assistant Priest) of Trowse, to be Priest-in-Charge (Norwich).

BROAD. The Revd Christine Broad, Assistant Curate (Associate Vicar) of Oxton, to be Rector of Woodchurch, and Dean of Women’s Ministry (Chester).

DOHERTY. The Revd Dr Sean Doherty, Director of Studies and Assessment, and Tutor in Ethics of St Mellitus College, London, to be Principal of Trinity College, Bristol.

FUTCHER. The Revd Anne Futcher, Assistant Curate of Colyton, Musbury, Southleigh and Branscombe (Exeter), to be Assistant Curate (Assistant Priest) of St Helena’s, Larnaca, and Cyprus Archdeaconry Social Concern Co-ordinator (Cyprus & the Gulf).

GLEW. The Revd Mark Glew, part-time Priest-in-Charge of St Mary’s, Haughton, to be half-time Rector (Manchester).

HAWKES. The Revd Martyn Hawkes, Vicar of Aldersbrook, to be also Area Dean of Redbridge (Chelmsford).

LILLICRAP. The Revd Stephen Lillicrap, Rector of the Kingsdown and Creekside Parish, Area Dean of Ospringe, and Hon. Canon of Canterbury Cathedral, to be also Priest-in-Charge of High Downs, (Canterbury).

MILNE. The Revd James Milne, Minor Canon and Sacrist of St Paul’s Cathedral, to be Precentor and Residentiary Canon (London).

MOORES. The Revd Jonathan Moores, Team Vicar in the Atherton and Hindsford with Howe Bridge Team Ministry, to be Team Vicar (Associate Team Rector) in the Seven Saints Team Ministry (Manchester).

PARKER. The Revd Stephen Parker, Vicar of St John the Baptist, South Leamington, now also Acting Area Dean of Warwick and Leamington (Coventry).

PITMAN. The Revd Janet Pitman, Assistant Curate of Oldham and Werneth, to be Vicar of Milnrow and Newhey (Manchester).

SANDERSON. The Revd Paul Sanderson, OLM of Walmersley Road, to be half-time Priest-in-Charge of Elton (Manchester).

SMITH. The Revd Magdalen Smith, Diocesan Director of Ordinands (Chester), now National Adviser for Selection in the Ministry Division of the Archbishops’ Council.

WEEKS. The Revd Jane Weeks, Priest-in-Charge of Elham with Denton and Wootton and Acrise, and Area Dean of Elham, now also Priest-in-Charge of Lyminge with Paddlesworth and Stanford with Postling and Radegund (Canterbury).

 

WALES

JENKINS. The Revd Dr John Rhys Jenkins, NS Assistant Curate of Roath, to be NS Assistant Curate (Associate Priest) in the Rectorial Benefice of Canton (Llandaff).

SHARPE. The Revd Lance Sharpe, Head of Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care of Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board, and NS Assistant Curate of Morriston, now Priest-in-Charge of Gwastedyn and Assistant Curate (Associate Priest) in the West Radnor Ministry Area (Swansea & Brecon).
