“The heavy boot crushing the roses” was embroidered as part of a symbolic tapestry about her feelings during a testing time by Libby Gilchrist, the first woman ordained priest for the traditionalist Wangaratta diocese, Australia, but in Melbourne for legal reasons. The illustration is from her book The Tapestry: One woman’s journey to priesthood, in which she tells her story (Ark House Press, £12.99; 978-0-6482639-5-1)
