BATESON. — On 23 August, the Revd Geoffrey Frederick Bateson: Assistant Curate of All Saints’, Gosforth, in charge of the Ascension, Kenton (1956-60); Vicar of St Peter’s, Monkseaton (1960-68); St George’s, Jesmond, Newcastle (1968-77); Rural Dean of Newcastle Central (1975-77); Rector of Morpeth (1977-89); Chaplain of St George’s Hospital and Cottage Hospital, Morpeth (1977-89); Hon. Canon of Newcastle Cathedral (1980-89); aged 90.

COTTON. — On 30 August, the Revd Richard William Cotton: National Travelling Secretary of Church Youth Fellowships Association and Pathfinders (1967-71); Secretary of CPAS Pathfinders (1971-76); Vicar of Christ Church, Chislehurst (1976-92); Christ Church, Herne Bay (1992-2001); Rural Dean of Reculver (1993-2001); Hon. Canon of Canterbury Cathedral (1999-2001); aged 83.

COUSSMAKER. — On 27 August, the Revd Colin Richard Chad Coussmaker: Assistant Curate of Christ Church, Reading, in charge of St Agnes’s (1964-67); Chaplain in Istanbul (1967-72); Sliema, Malta (1972-77); of St Boniface’s, Antwerp, Belgium (1977-93); Canon of Holy Trinity Pro-Cathedral, Brussels (1981-2000); Chaplain in Moscow (1993-99); Hon. Assistant Chaplain in Nice with Vence, France (1999-2000); aged 84.

BOURNE. — On 19 August, the Revd Henry Bourne: RAF Chaplain (1967-85); Assistant Chaplain-in-Chief in the RAF (1985-87); Priest-in-Charge of Kingston (1987-88); Bourn (1987-88); Vicar of Kingston (1988-89); Bourn (1988-89); Caxton (1988-89); Rector of Bourn and Kingston with Caxton and Longstowe (1989-91); Hon. Assistant Curate of Sampford Peverell, Uplowman, Holcombe Rogus, Hockworthy, Burlescombe, Huntsham and Halberton with Ash Thomas (2000-01); aged 84.

GRIGG. — On 26 August, the Revd Terence George Grigg: Chaplain of Lee Abbey (1963-66); Chaplain and Lecturer of St Luke’s College, Exeter (1966-70); Vicar of Stainton-in-Cleveland (1970-83); Rector of Cottingham (1983-2004); Canon and Prebendary of York Minster since 1990; Hon. Canon of Koforidua, West Africa, since 1984; Ho, Ghana, since 2006; aged 84.
