Former US president George Bush dies: President Donald Trump, with the First Lady, Melania Trump, salutes at the lying-in-state of George H. W. Bush, US President 1989-93, at the Capitol, in Washington, DC, on Tuesday. Mr Bush died last Friday, aged 94. His state funeral was due to be held in Washington National Cathedral on Wednesday afternoon. His son, another former US president, George Bush, was due to read one of the eulogies. George Bush Senior was a lifelong Episcopalian, ENS reported

Japanese Anglicans stand against nuclear power

THE Anglican Communion in Japan — the Nippon Sei Ko Kai (NSKK) — is to host an International Forum for a Nuclear-Free World next year. The forum is due to be held from 27 to 31 May 2019 in Sendai. Delegates will visit Fukushima, scene of the 2011 nuclear-power-station explosions. “We earnestly hope this Forum will launch major, lasting initiatives across national and other borders for ‘a world free from nuclear power’”, the NSKK’s Executive Committee said in a statement released this week.
