A 15th-century 20-carat gold bishop’s ring, engraved with St George, which was found by Adam Day, a metal detector hobbyist, in a field near Beverley Minster, in Yorkshire, is due to be sold at Hansons Auctioneers’ Historica Auction in Derbyshire on 24 January, with an estimated sale price of £8000 to £10,000.
