The Gift of Repentance: And other sermons, by J. W. Rogerson

by
02 November 2018

THE fourth collection of J. W. Rogerson’s sermons, The Gift of Repentance: And other sermons, which was published a few days after his death, ranges through the Christian year and special occasions, and also includes a substantial talk on Martin Luther and the rediscovery of the gospel. Other themes include persistence in prayer, spiritual warfare, greatness, power, and privilege, “Jesus in the gutter”, and “The messy path of saints” (he was not keen on canonisations). Serious scholarship and a wide range of allusions are present together with an accessible style (Beauchief Abbey Press/Lulu, £11.99 (£10.79); 978-0-9935499-9-1).
