9pm (BBC2) King Arthur’s Britain: The truth unearthed Professor Alice Roberts tries to shed some light on the Dark Ages.

RADIO: Friday 1.30pm (World Service) Heart and Soul Lipika Pelham visits the West Bank city of Hebron to see the caves that are central to the faith of the people who live in the city.

10.45pm (R3) The Essay: Italy Outdoors Polly Coles looks at Italian churches, from the cathedral of San Lorenzo, in Genoa, to a wooden chapel in Venice (5/5).

Sunday 8.10am (R4) Sunday Worship Live from Lichfield Cathedral, a service that explores the contribution of cathedrals to national life. The preacher is the director of the Cathedral and Church Buildings Division, Becky Clark.

3pm (R3) Choral Evensong A repeat of last week’s service from Merton College, Oxford.

Monday to Friday 9.45am (R4 FM) On Truth Five essays on the theme of truth and the challenges it faces in an era of fake news (1-5/5).

Monday 4.30pm (R4) Beyond Belief Ernie Rea and guests discuss the religious content in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein (5/5).

Wednesday 3.30pm (R3) Choral Evensong Live from Tewkesbury Abbey.
