A MAN has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act after a woman was found stabbed at a church in Coventry.
The victim was found outside St Margaret’s, Ball Hill, just after 3 a.m. on Sunday with a stab wound to her abdomen.
On Tuesday, West Midlands Police said that the woman, in her thirties, remained in a “critical condition” in hospital.
A 26-year-old man from Coventry was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Sunday night, but was then sectioned under the Mental Health Act on Monday.
A spokesman for the diocese of Coventry said on Tuesday: “We are extremely sad to hear of the stabbing that happened outside St Margaret’s on Sunday. Our prayers go out to the victim and the Eritrean community in Coventry.”
