Dean to chief executive: the Revd Duncan Dormor

THE next chief executive of USPG is to be the Dean of St John’s College, Cambridge, the Revd Duncan Dormor.

This week he said that he had long admired the way in which the charity “acts in solidarity to empower local churches across the globe in ways that respect their autonomy and culture”.

Ordained in 1995, Mr Dormor has been at St John’s since 1998, first as Chaplain. He is director of studies for theology at the college, and lectures in the divinity faculty. He serves on the General Synod as Proctor for the University of Cambridge, and has been a member of the Mission and Public Affairs Council of the C of E and the Anglican-Roman Catholic Committee. He is also a member of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland’s Mission and Theological Advisory Group.

He studied anthropology and demography at Magdalen College, Oxford, and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and has written on topics including sexuality and gender. He is the author of a forthcoming book on Pope Francis and the renewal of the Church

He said that he was “absolutely delighted to be offered this opportunity to lead USPG as it works with partner churches across the Anglican Communion in seeking to transform the lives of individuals and communities through the power of the gospel.”
