Dean retires

THE Very Revd Professor Gordon McPhate, the Dean of Chester, since 2002, will retire on 30 September. Dean McPhate is Pro­fessor of Theology and Medicine at the Uni­­versity of Chester, and teaches science, religion, and bioethics. Before his present appointment, he had held posts in the dioceses of St Andrews, Dunkeld & Dunblane, Lon­­don, and South­wark.

Archdeacon retires

THE Ven. Philip Down, Arch­deacon of Ashford, in Canter­bury diocese, since 2011, will retire on 15 October. Before his present appointment, he was Archdeacon of Maidstone, from 2002 to 2011. He had held posts in the diocese since 1995.

CLARKE. The Revd Susan Clarke, Rector of Thornhill and Vicar of Whitely Lower (Leeds): 16 June.

BURKITT-GRAY. The Revd Joan Burkitt-Gray, Hon. Assistant Curate of St Margaret’s, Lee (Southwark).

CHRISTIAN. The Revd Paul Chris­tian, Rector of Temple Ewell with Lydden (Canterbury): 31 July.

GOODLAND. The Revd Michael Goodland, Vicar of St Germans and Assistant Curate in the Saltash Team Ministry, and Rural Dean of East Wivelshire (Truro): 31 October.

GREENHALGH. The Revd Ian Greenhalgh, Vicar of Clapham-with-Keasden and Austwick, Area Dean of Ewecross and Bowland, and Hon. Canon of Bradford Cathedral (Leeds): 31 July.

HARTLEY. The Revd Paul Hartley, Rector of All Saints and St Cuthbert, Ackworth (Leeds): 31 July.

IRELAND. The Revd Mary Ireland, Rector of Great Harrowden with Little Harrowden and Orlingbury and Isham with Pytchley (Peter­borough): 31 May.

LAWSON. The Revd Felicity Lawson, Vicar of Gildersome, Priest-in-Charge of Drighlington, and Hon. Canon of Wakefield Cathedral (Leeds): 30 June.

PEARCE. The Revd Susan Pearce, NS Associate Priest of St Peter’s, High Harrogate (Leeds).

PEET. The Revd Dr John Peet, Vicar of Cononley with Bradley (Leeds).

PELL. The Revd Andrew Pell, Priest-in-Charge of St Cuthbert’s, Forcett, and Aldborough and Melsonby (Leeds).

REED. The Revd Malcolm Reed, house-for-duty NSM of Ryhill, and Hon. Assistant Chaplain to the Bishop of Wakefield (Leeds): 31 July.
